A piece from Udaipur is rarely the work of an afternoon, and almost never the work of the person who sells it. Kalakar Parichay exists to put the maker back into the sale.
When you can see how something was made and who made it, authenticity stops being a claim and becomes something you can hold.
Behind each piece stands a village, a family that has held the craft for generations, and very often a god or a king. We travel to the by-lanes of Udaipur, Nathdwara, Rajsamand and Shahpura to meet the people who still grind their own pigment, beat their own copper and set stone into marble by eye. We do not employ them, and we do not rename their work. We simply make the introduction — that is what parichay means.
We name the maker
Every piece is sold with the artisan's name, village and lineage — and, where it exists, the craft's Geographical Indication status. No anonymous 'Rajasthani handicraft'.
We issue a certificate
A serial-matched certificate of authenticity travels with each piece, repeated on the work and on a tamper-evident hologram, and verifiable online.
We price the hands, not the material
A fair price is for the years of training and the weeks of patient work — not the cost of the cloth, the stone or the steel.

We visit the workshop
We buy directly, in person, at a price the maker sets — never through a middle agent.

The piece is documented
Maker, village, materials, hours and dimensions are recorded and photographed as received.

A certificate is issued
A unique serial is matched to the piece, the certificate and a tamper-evident hologram.
